Meat Processing Worker

You work a station on the cutting line: separating the primal cuts, trimming fat and sinew to the specification and putting the pieces on the right belt. Knives are sharpened at the fixed station and checked before every break. In the packing hall you weigh, seal and label the trays and check the date print on a sample every hour. Temperature and hygiene readings are signed on the HACCP sheet. Work runs 06:00-14:00, with an early start on delivery days.

Workers who hold the specification on the line are trained as butchers on the primal cuts, and from there on the boning station, which is paid at a higher rate.

A cold hall held between 4 and 10 degrees, with stainless benches, mesh gloves at the knife stations and a heated break room. Thermal clothing, boots, gloves and a hairnet are supplied.
